It causes breath odor!

It is safe to say that nobody wants breath odor. Breath odor can be caused by a number of conditions. However, smoking is recently the top reason for breath odor. Materials included in cigarettes accumulate in the mouth and cause breath odor.

It results with a decrease in salivation

Nicotine, a major active ingredient, has a huge impact on the nervous system. The most important effect is the decrease in salivation. Saliva is an important fluid, especially for oral hygiene.

Decreased salivation facilitates accumulation of bacteria on the teeth and gums. Decreased salivation also results with more tooth decay.

Tar accumulates in the mouth of a smoker. Accumulated tar gradually causes discoloration of the teeth. This dark brown color results with a bad appearance.

The possibility of gum diseases increases

Smoking also increase the possibility of many systematic diseases. Research shows that it has a direct effect specifically on respiratory and heart diseases.

Smoking causes a number of conditions including constriction of blood vessels in the mouth and decreased salivation.

Constriction of blood vessels results with decreased local oxygen pressure and increased bacteria growth. It has a negative impact on the defense mechanism of the gums.

Research also shows that the bone level of smokers in the mouth is also decreased. Even in the case of no decayed tooth, we should remember that a smoker can lose teeth due to receding gums and bones.
