BRUXISM is a condition where we grind, gnash or clench our teeth, which is observed while we are asleep, or anxious and stressed.<\/p>\n

Even though it may sound like a simple condition, it may lead to severe headaches, the enlargement of the shape of your face due to the impact on the jaw joint, or the locking of the chin.<\/p>\n

Results of bruxism may also include wear and fracture of the teeth, and pain in the jaw joint.<\/p>\n

Bruxism can be treated with custom made transparent mouth guards that are used at night when you\u2019re asleep. These mouth guards protect and treat the muscles, teeth and jaw joint.<\/p>\n

There are two types of bruxism, awake and sleep. In both types, the individual may clench his jaw or grind his teeth.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

  • Awake bruxism \/ Day bruxism:<\/strong> The person may clench his jaw or grind his teeth while awake. This type of bruxism is easy to diagnose. Grinding teeth while awake will be easily noticed by other people and diagnosed.<\/li>\n
  • Sleep bruxism \/ Night bruxism:<\/strong> This type of bruxism is defined as a movement disorder associated with sleep. It is highly possible that grinding teeth while asleep will be accompanied by sleep apnea, snoring and sleep disorders. Sleep bruxism may not be diagnosed until complications emerge. Therefore it is important to be familiar with the symptoms of bruxism and have regular dental inspections.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    While it is a condition that can be easily resolved at the initial stage, it may require surgical intervention if left untreated.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
